The Elling Eide Center
8000 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34231
A 45-minute guided tour through the Eide historic orchard exploring the geologic history of Florida and how it relates to the evolution of plant life with living examples. Dr. Oliver Mitchell Sr., the grandfather to Elling O. Eide, purchased this land in 1935, and over the years the Mitchell and Eide families planted rare and interesting plants from around the globe. The Eide site contains seven historically significant structures, along with a modern library.
We are a private research library and preserve and with the exception of publicized lectures and events, at this time we do not provide public access. Please check our Events page, our Facebook page, or Eventbrite for our latest event postings.
